This vertical growth of the plant is called primary growth, because it happens first before the lateral growth (if any) of the plant. More specifically on growth at the root tips: A root cap covers and protects the apical meristem, allowing it to continue to grow and deeper penetrate the soil.
Lower plants like ferns and horsetails have as growth points apical cells that have the shape of an inverted pyramid or parabolic dish. In higher plants growth does not arise from a single cell, but from growth zones, called meristems, in which groups of dividing cells occur. (Meristems consist of undifferentiated cells that have the capacity to divide; meristos means ‘divided’ in Greek). The first meristems can be found even before seed germination: during the early development of the plant
    (1) Both plants E and F have many seeds and are dispersed by animals. (2) Both plants F and H are dispersed by splitting action but Plant F has many seeds unlike Plant H. (3) Both plants E and G are dispersed by animals but Plant E has one seed unlike Plant G. (4) Both plants G and H have one seed each and are dispersed by splitting action.
Growth is an irreversible, permanent increase in plants. Growth is mainly two types in plants: Primary growth and Secondary growth. (a) Primary growth – Primary growth increases the length of the shoot and the root of the plant body, which is the result of cell division in the shoot apical meristem . Primary and secondary growth play important roles in establishing the basic body plan of the organism. In the earliest vascular plants, the vascular tissues produced by primary meristems played the same conducting roles as they do in contemporary vascular plants. There was no differentiation of the plant body into stems, leaves, and roots. These three kinds of organs is a property of most present plants, due to the need for increasing specialization as a response to the demands of
